Today Mongoose was raced with a guest skipper, Lee Mortimer. Dan and Tristen completed the relatively small three man team. Mongoose won second place in the first race but unfortunately because of a breakage aboard the boat were not competitive in the second race. The damage has been assessed and will be repaired as quickly as possible. Until the damage can be repaired Mongoose is out of comission.

Today marked the kick off of the new Ensign Season. Both Ensigns and O'day day sailors competed on the same course in different divisions. The first race was postponed nearly 40 minutes because of lack of wind. A second race was begun in better wind. Sean participated in the Race Committee with Bruce and DJ while Mr. Klein skippered Mongoose with Sabrina, Dan and Barchan.

| Tonight was the first race of Ensign Fleet # 69's summer series. Each Tuesday the fleet will hold one semi-formal relaxed "Fun race". Mongoose and crew # 816 plan to attend all races. Tonights crew conisted of: Sean on Helm and acting Skipper, Tristen on Fore-Deck, Jacob on Mainsheet, and Barchan manning the pit.

Tonight's business meeting was marked by 100% attendance. Candidates for the new Teen Leader's Council were announced and each was offered time to present their case. Mr. Klein presided over the elections. After the vote the papers were tallied and the result was:

| Sean, Barchan, Jacob, Holly Bird, Bob, Mr. Klein and guest Mrs. Rodgers represented Venture Crew #816, "Mongoose" at the Ensign Fleet # 69's award ceremonies. Mongoose was awarded third place for the Wint/Spr series and placed fourth place overall for the entire year. Good work crew!

| Today was the last race day of Ensign Fleet # 69's season. The weather built all morning to near 20's for the start. Because of the weather the race committee called a 'no-spinnaker' race. Aboard Mongoose was: Sabrina, Dan, Barchan as Coxswain and Mr. Klein. Sean sailed aboard Tomohawk with Wayne. Mongoose sailed well against stiff competition and scored a 5th and 4th places. Mongoose was also outfitted with several new pieces of equipment and rigging.

| The Crew held a training day today. Mongoose and another local fleet boat, Tomhawk were taken out by the crew. The two groups worked on building team work by working with two of the local Skippers Dennis and Wayne. The weather was almost perfect for training with the wind in the 5-7 kt. range. Crew # 816 would like to thank Dennis, Wayne, and Mark for spending the day with us and teaching us all they know!

Because Sean, Barchan, and Jacob were away sailing in the Suncoast Race week, Mongoose was crewed by: Sabrina on the helm for the first race and foredeck for the second, Dan on foredeck for the first and helm for the second, Mr. Klein handled the mainsheet for both races. The crew was assisted by Irwin in the pit, a guest crew member from Zeke's boat "Artful Dodger". Papa Bull and D.J. worked the race committee. The wind was stiff and provided an exciting race. "Mongoose" ranked third in both races.

Racing with an almost brand-new set of sails donated to the Crew by Mr. Simkins, Mongoose raced extremely competitively. The crew consisted of: Sabrina and Tristen in the pit (Tristen also working fore-deck), Barchan on main-sheet, and Mr. Klein as supervisor. Sean took the helm for both races. The wind was nearly 0 kts. for the first race increasing to 4-5 kts. at the start of the second. There was no race comittee.

This was the first of three days that will constitute the 2006 Ensign Midwinters Regatta. 11 boats participated from across the country as well as local fleet # 69. The crew included: Sean, Sabrina, Barchan, Tristen, and Mr. Klein. Jacob also participated but because of a crew overage he was invited to sail with out-of-state race team "Green Dolphin." All crew raced various positions. The day consisted of a total of 5 races. Julia and Bryce were both in town, back from college, and were able to join us. Both helped with race comittee.

This was the second of three days of the 2006 Ensign Midwinters Regatta. Because of an accident aboard "Patriot" on the first day of races, only 10 boats participated. The Crew consisted of: Barchan, Tristen, Jacob, Chris, and Mr. Klein. Because of crew overages Sean sailed aboard "Spirit" and Sabrina helped on one of the race comittee boats. Julia Visited from college and helped with race comittee.

| This was the last of three days of racind that constituted the 2006 Midwinters. Sailing on "Mongoose" was: Sabrina, Chris, Andrew, Bryce, and Mr. Klein. Because of an overage in crew Jacob, Tristen, and Barchan helped on the chase boat. Sean sailed again aboard "Spirit". The Race Comittee was able to get off two races before the wind became sporatic and died. This concluded racing for the 2006 Ensign Midwinters Regatta.

The awards banquet was held at Eddie's Bar and Grill. Team members who attended included: Barchan, Sean, Sabrina, Bryce, Tristen, and Jacob. Mrs. Rodgers also came in place of Mr. Rodgers who had to attend and Apollo Beach Regatta planning meeting. Trophies were awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place winners. Wayne on Tomohawk received the "Best Sportsmanship Award"

Because of an incredibly impressive crew turnout all members were not able to sail on "Mongoose". Andrew sailed with another crew aboard "Suprise". Jacob sailed aboard Wayne's "Tomohawk". Sean and Tristen sailed together on Henry's "The Frog". Crewing "Mongoose" was Sabrina in the pit, Barchan crewed the fore-deck, Chris was on mainsheet, Dan took the helm, and Charlie Klein was the skipper. "Mongoose" raced a competitive race and took 4th in both races.

| Due to various circumstances nearly all of the crew was pre-occupied on race day. Andrew was the only member of Team Mongoose to show for the race and was forced to crew for another team. Andrew sailed on "Suprise."
